Ukraine Faces Banking and Payment Disruptions Amid Funding Cuts
Ukraine is grappling with widespread banking and payment outages following funding cuts by the Trump administration. Citizens report inability to use cards at retail stores, public transport, or taxis, with mobile payment platforms like Apple Pay also affected. The disruptions have left thousands without access to basic financial services.
Serhiy Naumov, CEO of Oshchadbank, confirmed a major data center failure as the root cause. Nova Poshta, the country’s largest private postal service, cited technical issues for its offline status. Diia, Ukraine’s digital services platform, is also non-operational due to a technical update.
